From July 24-July 29, the best longboarders from around the globe will gather in the astonishing island of French Polynesia – Tahiti, to battle for the women’s and men’s European titles. Taharuu, Papara, the beautiful black sand beach, known to offer great surfing potential on all conditions, from 3 to 8+ ft swells, will be the place for the4 Star WLT event.
On the heart of Tahiti’s west coast, the city of Papara will welcome an international field of longboarders and witness the amazing levels of pure surfing style and action. With its relaxed “island-like” way of life, Tahiti matches perfectly with longboarding’s classic, smooth competitive aspects and the sumptuous cocktail will definitely make this new stop on the surfing world tour a success.
Famous for its perfect crystal clear cerullean water barrels, French Polynesia has been highlighted and popularized in the past years by the amazing Teahupoo phenomenon, and local initiatives along with the Tahitian Surfing Federation are strongly pursuing the development of professional surfing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ever since.
Co-sanctionned by ASP Europe and ASP Australasia, the Tahiti Pro Longboard will give another great opportunity to surfing’s legendary style. This event will provide the crucial ending to the climactic 2007 Longboarding european championships.
